Fertility

Acupuncture can assist you during your fertility journey no matter what stage you are in. There is ample research with acupuncture being used while undergoing IUI and IVF procedures that show a considerable increase in implantation rates. Whether if you have just started trying to conceive or have suffered multiple miscarriages, acupuncture and herbs can provide successful outcomes.

Vanessa Guinet has worked extensively with many local fertility clinics for the past 15 years and has seen great success when adding acupuncture and/or herbs to help conceive and sustain pregnancy. She has been the fertility specialist at Acupuncture Health Associates in Westfield since 2008.

Acupuncture can help support a healthy cycle to help conceive naturally or it can work in conjunction to an assisted reproductive cycle like IUI or IVF.  Here are some of the benefits seen while using acupuncture and herbs during a cycle:

  • Help regulate menstrual cycle
  • Increase LH surge
  • Optimize Progesterone production
  • Prevent miscarriage
  • Lower FSH levels
  • Increase egg quality
  • Increase quality/quantity of cervical fluid
  • Increase thickness of uterine lining
  • Promote follicular development during IVF
  • Increase implantation rates

Trying to conceive is extremely stressful and it is important to lower stress levels during cycles as it affects hormonal levels and quality of the uterine lining. This is a time to focus on lowering inflammation in the body as it will not only improve your chances of conception but also help support the healthy development of the fetus when you do achieve pregnancy. It is during pregnancy that the mother's body provides all the necessary nutrients to develop a brand new human, and while vitamins and minerals are important to have at optimal levels, risks factors for the mother need to be evaluated and lowered in order to have a proper fetal development.

Your fertility consultation is very comprehensive and includes looking at bloodwork, discussing the menstrual cycle, talking about BBT charting and much more. We will devise a plan to help maximize your fertility or provide support during IUI or IVF if needed. The average time to see fertility improvement is between 3 and 6 months but can sometimes be much quicker.
